One of the most beautiful and best preserved in the country. A fortress-palace founded in the fifteenth century by the first Marquis of Villena, the man with more power of Castile in his time. Famous for hosting Juana La Beltraneja or Eugenia de Montijo, it has been the scene of cinematographic blockbusters such as El Cid or the Medieval World Championship. The appearance of the castle combines delicate elegance with imposing strength. Valuable coffered ceilings, plasterwork and other works of art populate its interior. The walled enclosure that surrounds it has milestones such as the Chinchilla Gate.
